Retrocast 7 – Drumrolls & 303s – Acid Trance mix

I guess this ties in quite nicely with last week’s Techno mix.

A lot of old favourites in here – to me these tunes conjur up memories of 6^th Form college; A-levels; questionable self-belief in one’s driving abilities whilst honing round the country lanes of Hampshire; sneaking out of school to find the Spiral Tribe rave on a nearby hillside; and generally quasi-rebellious teenaged behaviour.

Of course, if you’re not an old git like me, the music might mean something entirely different. Remember X-Trax – Access ?? Yea, of course you do, it was in the charts and everything. . . well, it’s a load of that sort of stuff.

It’s not unfair to suggest that trance techno used to have a slightly dirtier, harder edge compared to the more psychedelic stuff that is still popular these days, and I guess that was the sort of trance that I used to like…
