Hello, and welcome to Clockwork Shorts – a place for the rantings and pantings of Orangewarrior (ie: myself).

So, what better way to kick off the future, than to return to the past?..

For a while now, I have been posting mixes on a myspace page – here they are transplanted to Clockwork Shorts. If you are trying to download anything and are experiencing difficulties then please let me know. :)

Orangeloverloverman – February mix . . . . for the ladies

More of a blended assortment for this month’s mix, rather than the usual bpm-related assemblage . .

As we all know, February is the time of Valentines, when young romantics get to send obscene sexual demands to each other cloaked in anonymity.

To that end, i figured i’d put together a bit of a selection exploring various amorous themes. If you’re lucky, it might make you feel all warm and snuggly inside, then a little bit bitter and resentful, before easing into a final euphoric joy. Failing that, you might just enjoy a selection of largely relaxed tunes that aren’t too cloying and twee.

Dust away those Winter Blues mix

aka “Dust off the Winter Blues”

i figured what with all the exercising im putting my body through at the moment (as is tradition in January) that i should remember to keep my mixing muscles flexing too!

So – ive done this little mix – no particular musical agenda other than these are a selection of the tunes ive been enjoying so far this year. . . who knows, maybe you might enjoy them too! its a little bit schizophrenic in places – but hey, you wouldnt call it a “mix” if it wasnt, right? Right?

And then finally, a good, old fashioned mix using actual real vinyl records! (who’d a thunk it?!?!?)….

Orangewarrior – 28 quid’s worth of drum and bass.

so – i nipped down to the 2nd hand store and picked up some random slabs of vinyl.. this is the net result. As you can see i sort of themed sections of the mix by what label they were on – this was because i was mixing them Blind and unheard before, so figured this would create some sense of consistency! Generally quite happy with the results, although the Jon B tune wasnt as tough as i had expected, and that breakbeat kaos stuff seems to have a leaning towards long, unmixable intros. So there you go – enjoy!

new mix . . finally!

So, after months of holidaying, moving flat, and getting back to normality, ive finally had the opportunity to record a new mix… i can quite confidently say its got a bit of everything, but then so it should goddamnit.

So, in a nutshell, old skool into dubstep, into breaks, into ketamine beats, into siren breaks, into electro house, into Blog House (eww), into Fidget house (double eww), into techno, into breaks, into planet mu wrongstep, into drum and bass . . . well, you get the idea…

oh yes, and in case you’re wondering, the opening sample is from Doctor Who legend Tom Baker drunkenly ranting during an advert voice over recording, sometime in days of yore..
